Greetings Blogosphere!
So this was my very first freelance design job that I finished this past summer, for my husband's niece. She was making the transition into her teenage years so i figured I would give her a "Big Girl" room for her birthday! We said goodbye to the pink, purple and green polka dots, the boas, and the stickers on the dresser. It was time she had a space for her Harry Potter books, her beautiful bangle bracelet collection (try saying that fast, haha) and a reading nook for her love of books. This wasn't the biggest project ever, but the small space was a perfect scale for my first job.
Updates coming soon with more in-depth photographs :)
Because of her family's Indian ethnicity, my husband's niece had loads of gorgeous bangles that were just begging to be displayed! I found these little treasures sitting in shoe boxes under her bed! She could never find any way to organize them (forget even trying to display them) without creating clutter from the shear amount that she had.
Challenge accepted.
I made this bangle display out of 3 separate tiny "cafe" curtain rods I purchased from Home Depot. You can probably get them at any hardware store and they were only a couple bucks, which was awesome! Since they didn't have the color I needed, I simply spray painted the rods and the rod hangers with a antique bronze finish to match the hardware in the room. This DIY jewelry display could easily be retrofitted for use with necklaces and other jewelry as well if you attach "S hooks" to the rods. :)
Below are more images of the room, and as stated before, I'll be updating this post with more images soon!
Happy Blogging!
XOXO ~ Mimi!
Spray painted the existing dresser hardware with the same antique bronze paint finish to make it pop! |
